Fayetteville Home

Project Type: Addition & Renovation

Location: Fayetteville, Arkansas

Project Size: 4,000 SF

Babin Architecture was approached to formulate a master plan to an existing home built in the Arkansas regionalist style pioneered by the renowned local architect Fay Jones. The homeowners fell in love with the design, but quickly realized the home’s floor plan had its flaws, such as only two bedrooms and a dysfunctional, leaking garage. The resulting project is a comprehensive renovation and addition, allowing for more multi-functional family spaces, four new bedrooms, a large garage, a new kitchen, and luxurious outdoor spaces such as a covered porch and infinity-edge pool. Every effort was made to respect and continue the regionalist identity of the existing home during design.

A Home with Regionalist Identity

The existing garage had issues with moisture intrusion, and was uncomfortably small for the owners’ vehicles. The garage and its mother-in-law suite above were gutted and reimagined as a Great Room, utilizing the vaulted ceiling of the original roof as a design feature.
